Gear and Garb: Summer Style from THE DEEP
Say farewell to summer with style cues from this '77 adventure film.
A criminally underrated movie, The Deep is based on the novel by the same name from author Peter Benchley (who also brought us Jaws). The film takes place in beautiful Bermuda as Nick Nolte, Robert Shaw and Jacqueline Bisset scuba dive in search of treasure.
I recently watched the film with my dad and absolutely loved it. It wasn't well received when it was released, but it is an extremely fun and suspenseful adventure film. Not to mention stylish (as illustrated in the screengrabs featured below).
Here's a Deep themed guide to looking sharp this Labor Day Weekend.
+ Find a colorful short sleeve shirt with a fun pattern. Treat offers dozens of stylish options.
+ Wear a hat designed for the beach, like this classic panama from Target. It wont cost a fortune, so you won't be heartbroken if it gets claimed by the sea.
+ Beat the heat with a classic - Taylor Stitch's cotton/linen blend shirt
+ Go the extra mile and catch your dinner with the JBL elite woody sawed off speargun
+ It's no secret that I love a good chore coat, and the one Robert Shaw wears in this film is no exception. Stay warm during the chilly evenings with one like this from Le Laboureur.
+ Throw all your beach gear in a clean and simple tote. I'm particularly fond of this bag from the folks over at Herschel Supply.
Last but not least, how can you not be envious of Romer Treece's (Robert Shaw) lighthouse-home?!
